Vinh Yen Shoes: When Multiple Factory Rooftops Generate Energy

In the footwear industry, requirements for energy use, emissions, and sustainable production are becoming increasingly important across supply chains and export markets. At Vinh Yen Shoes Joint Stock Company, SolarBK is deploying an 815 kWp rooftop solar system across multiple factory rooftops. The system is expected to generate approximately 894 MWh of electricity annually and help avoid around 589 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

Greening Production at the Source

Operating since 1998, Vinh Yen Shoes Joint Stock Company is a footwear manufacturer producing, among other products, sports shoes for both the domestic and export markets. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Vinh Yen and Tam Duong, formerly part of Vinh Phuc Province and now within Phu Tho Province.

For the footwear industry, the green transition is increasingly tied to specific supply-chain requirements: improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and progressively meeting sustainability criteria set by customers, partners, and international markets.

On-site solar power therefore does more than make use of available rooftop space. It also provides a source of clean energy directly for manufacturing operations.

Against this backdrop, on June 10, 2026, SolarBK commenced the construction of an 815 kWp rooftop solar system at Vinh Yen Shoes Joint Stock Company.

One System – Multiple Factory Rooftops

A notable feature of the project lies in its installation layout. Rather than being concentrated on a single large rooftop, the system is distributed across multiple factory rooftops, each with different structural characteristics and installation conditions.

Workforce deployment, material staging, and transportation therefore need to be carefully coordinated for each location while minimizing disruption to the manufacturing activities taking place below.

Construction has also coincided with periods of heavy rain and storms, directly affecting outdoor and rooftop work. The SolarBK team has proactively adjusted activities to actual weather conditions while maintaining safety and project quality requirements.

Close coordination with Vinh Yen Shoes Joint Stock Company has also enabled construction activities to proceed while the factory remains operational.

Across these separate rooftops, individual components are gradually being connected into one integrated energy system serving the factory's production activities.

From Footwear Industry Experience to a Growing Footprint in Vinh Phuc – Phu Tho

The Vinh Yen Shoes project builds on two areas of experience SolarBK has developed over the years: delivering clean energy solutions for the footwear industry and its related supply chain, while also implementing multiple C&I projects across the Vinh Phuc – Phu Tho region.

In the footwear and supporting industries, SolarBK has deployed rooftop solar systems at a number of manufacturing facilities. Notable projects include Creative Source Vietnam in Thai Binh with 3,628 kWp; Jim Brother’s in Binh Duong with 1,000 kWp; Tong Hong Tannery in Ba Ria – Vung Tau with 460 kWp; and Bach Nang in Quang Ninh with 388 kWp. Although these projects vary in scale and operating conditions, they share a common objective: bringing clean energy directly into manufacturing facilities.

SolarBK has also established a presence across a range of industrial and commercial projects in the Vinh Phuc – Phu Tho region. Notable examples include the Prime project portfolio in Thai Nguyen – Vinh Phuc, with a combined capacity of approximately 8.6 MWp. In 2026, Prime Vinh Phuc Phase 2 added more than 1.13 MWp. In Phu Tho, the solar system at TASA Ceramic has a total capacity of 8.7 MWp, alongside systems at Vincom Viet Tri and Vincom Phu Tho.

From ceramic factories and shopping centers to footwear manufacturing, each facility presents different requirements in terms of infrastructure, electricity demand, and operations. The Vinh Yen Shoes project therefore both extends SolarBK’s experience in the footwear sector and continues its journey of bringing clean energy to manufacturing facilities across the Vinh Phuc – Phu Tho region.
