Today, September 2, 2025, the Vietnamese people celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day – the day when President Hồ Chí Minh declared the Independence Proclamation at Ba Đình Square, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and opening a new era of freedom, independence, and self-reliance.
SolarBK celebrates 80 years of Vietnam's national day
Rooted in the aspiration of a nation
If in 1945 our nation chose the path of national independence, today SolarBK continues on a new journey: energy independence, building a green and sustainable economy for future generations.
After reunification, Vietnam embarked on a path of reconstruction and integration. In a time of great difficulty, a generation of young intellectuals, deeply believing in science, chose a path few dared to take: research in clean energy. A musician put down his instrument to seek answers from wind and sun; a mechanical lecturer resolved to bring technology into daily life. They met through a shared aspiration, laying the foundation for Vietnam’s renewable energy sector.
In 2008, SolarBK began transitioning to a joint stock company model.
In 2006, SolarBK was founded with the mission of bringing scientific research achievements into real life. The philosophy “Success begins with aspiration” was not only a belief, but also a spirit of resilience—daring to go all the way, unafraid to correct mistakes. That spirit became the compass guiding SolarBK from a science-based company into Vietnam’s pioneering clean energy corporation.
In an August interview with The Leader magazine, SolarBK CEO Nguyễn Dương Tuấn emphasized: “Policies may provide an initial push, but renewable energy can only be sustainable when it stands on economic value and societal demand.” This philosophy has guided SolarBK over the past 20 years—turning aspirations into practical solutions for communities and the nation.
“Brightening Trường Sa”: A symbol of national pride
Early successes came from “wind energy villages” in Cần Giờ, Khánh Hòa, and Nha Trang, helping people escape the darkness of oil lamps and bridging the gap between mainland and islands.
SolarBK became the first Vietnamese enterprise to bring clean electricity to the entire Spratly Archipelago and DK1 platforms.
Especially from 2008–2010, SolarBK became the first Vietnamese enterprise to bring clean electricity to the entire Trường Sa (Spratly Islands) archipelago and the DK1 platform. SolarBK engineers, like “soldiers without rank,” braved thousands of nautical miles to deliver light and life to the nation’s frontlines. Beyond electrification, SolarBK also deployed seawater desalination systems on Song Tử Tây and Trường Sa Lớn, improving the lives of soldiers and residents. “Brightening Trường Sa” became not only a scientific achievement but also a symbol of national sovereignty.
These contributions twice earned SolarBK the prestigious Energy Globe Awards, affirming the credibility and capability of a 100% Vietnamese enterprise on the global stage.
Innovation from within: SolarBK’s “firsts” shaping Vietnam’s renewable energy
As Vietnam entered deeper integration, SolarBK asserted its pioneering role through breakthrough innovations:
2016: Launched SSOC™ – Vietnam’s first clean energy monitoring and management system, boosting electricity output by up to 15%.
2017: Opened the Solar Experience Space – the first clean energy experience hub for youth.
2018: Introduced BigK – Vietnam’s first solar power solution offering performance insurance and financial support
2018: Introduced BigK – Vietnam’s first solar power solution offering performance insurance and financial support
Not stopping at these “firsts,” SolarBK upheld its DNA as a technology enterprise: investing heavily in R&D and localizing technology for lasting competitiveness. Recognizing that quality could not rely only on assembly, SolarBK established the IREX factory to produce “Made in Vietnam” solar panels, exporting over 50 MWp to demanding markets such as Germany and the Netherlands—proving that Vietnamese intellect can stand on par with the world.
Building Vietnam’s clean energy ecosystem
On its development journey, SolarBK has steadily completed a closed-loop ecosystem:
IREX: Producing solar panels with 350 MWp capacity, certified internationally.
SolarBK: R&D and EPC hub, turning technology into real-world solutions.
SolarESCO: Green financing solutions for enterprises.
SolarGATES: Distributing clean energy to millions of Vietnamese rooftops.
IREX: Producing solar panels with 350 MWp capacity, certified internationally.
During the “ice age” of Vietnam’s renewable energy sector (2021–2024), when the market was nearly frozen, SolarBK chose to “go against the tide”: focusing on clients with real demand such as FDI enterprises. In particular, the strategic joint venture with Banpu NEXT strengthened SolarBK’s financial capacity, enabling expansion of large projects even in the most challenging times.
Reaching the world: SolarBK as a pioneer for a green future
From Trường Sa to Europe, SolarBK has proven the capability of a Vietnamese enterprise on the global clean energy map. Collaborations with VinFast, Vincom Retail, LEGO showcase not only technological strength but also alignment in sustainable philosophy and the “Make in Vietnam” spirit.
The LEGO Vietnam factory in Binh Duong stands as proof of SolarBK's technology.
At LEGO’s factory inauguration in Bình Dương, CEO Niels B. Christiansen highlighted the event as a milestone in the company’s global sustainability commitments. LEGO leadership also recognized SolarBK as a trusted technology partner, accompanying the group in greening its supply chain.
Transformation in 2025: Setting new standards and shaping the future of energy
The year 2025 marks a turning point when SolarBK is not only a leader but also a standard-setter. From the Esco NEXT joint venture with Banpu NEXT, to strategic cooperation with Vietnam Airlines in greening aviation infrastructure, to projects with LEGO and the Solar Balcony program with GIZ—all affirm SolarBK’s role as a thought leader in the clean energy sector.
The Esco NEXT joint venture with Banpu NEXT aims to enhance capital capacity and expand the scale of commercial–industrial rooftop projects.
A 50-year vision: Partnering for a green Vietnam
For nearly 50 years, SolarBK’s journey has intertwined with Vietnam’s national development: from laying scientific foundations to global integration, from pioneering innovation to building a complete ecosystem.
SolarBK joined the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA) with the goal of promoting green transformation.
With more than 2,500 projects nationwide and tens of MWp exported internationally, SolarBK has brought Vietnam’s name to shine on the global clean energy map. Looking ahead, SolarBK pledges to continue pioneering—together with the Government and the business community—writing a new chapter for Vietnam: a green, self-reliant, and sustainable nation rising to the world in a new era.
