I have intended to start my story with the classic phrase of “once upon a time” but it may not be appropriate as what I want to share here is not a fairy tale - with fairy godfathers and godmothers extending their arms and willing to help the frail unconditionally. What I will talk about is a journey, an amazing and extremely modern journey, where there is no main characters or minor characters but companions with shared passions and enthusiasm. Here, success is not derived from luck, supernatural forces or compassion but “success comes from aspiration” at such place!
When coming to Saigon, I had just equipped myself with 5-year knowledge from university and 2-year working experience. There were too many surprises that made a girl without any relative reconsider her plan to move South. A “fateful” afternoon in mid-May 2011 was a major turning point in my life. As the two words Bach Khoa were so familiar, I unconsciously typed “Bach Khoa, recruitment, job, etc.” on Google and knew that BK-IDSE (SolarBK's name at that time) was looking for a position which was relatively consistent with my expertise and experience. Without a second thought, I decided to “apply”. Within 5 minutes from pressing the “submit” button, I was invited to attend an interview in that afternoon. How expeditious it was! And after more than 5 years of working here, I have believed that it is not only love that needs fate!
Here I has had ... … A job giving me enough income to secure myself and draw up my future plans. I am satisfied! If I wanted to gain wealth, I would definitely not choose this job named “wage-earners”.
... A job bringing me passion and creativity so that every morning I wake up and feel refreshed, energized, and never have the feeling of “being afraid when thinking about work”. I am satisfied! Otherwise, I would not have given up job opportunities in line with my family's wishes.
… A job with new experiences. I have had the chance to visit most provinces on this S-shaped strip of land as my colleagues are engrossed and implemented many projects everywhere.
... A job enabling me to meet many people. Some have given me beliefs and reasons why I exist; some have made me realize how trivial my efforts are compared to theirs. Nevertheless, there have been countless individuals giving me negative thoughts about life. But no matter who I have met, I know that I grow up every day and am on the journey of refining my best values.
Here I have... … Worked with visionary and ideal leaders. Those working with our Madam have certainly experienced fear. That fear has overwhelmed their actions, resulting in small and big mistakes. However, like me, there are many people who want to “get involved” to learn valuable experiences in their own worklife. I still remember exactly the first time the Boss assigned tasks, which was so concise that I didn't know what to do and where to start. I still completed them, not too bad, yet nothing outstanding. Afterwards, I learned from my experience that “Do not guess what others mean, just be open to communicate for better understanding of the requirement and the expectation”. There will probably be no place where the Boss is always interested in “personal roadmap” as only open-hearted people understand the importance of balancing family and career, especially for women like us.
... Worked with passionate, dedicated, and unselfish colleagues whom tend to share instead of competing. The whole team shines brilliantly instead of just one rising star. When being aware of unavoidable conflicts, we always work together to find the solution and remind each other that “the chain of experience has been long enough”.
… Overcome my limits not only in work but also in other physical activities. If working somewhere else, I could still represent the company to present, speak, and argue in front of a large hall, or stand in front of a team and inspire them but I would certainly have no opportunity to find myself running through the journey of 10 km, then 21 km to the finish line in the applause of my colleagues.
Here I will ... … Tell myself to keep trying. Only when I am good I can dedicate myself and bring value to the business.
… Position myself as an “efficient employee” for the BOD and “an inspiring manager” for my employees.
If one day I have to stop, I will surely feel satisfied with the passed journey, a bit regretful because I haven't had the opportunity to accompany the BOD and my colleagues to reach the great sea of IPO.
I would like to end with a sincere thanks to the Madam, Mr. Tuan and Ms. Sylvie as I consider them as great teachers in the lecture hall. Thank SolarBK and EDEC for giving me so many cherished experiences in my life!
