Ho Chi Minh City, March 26, 2026 – IREX Energy Joint Stock Company (A Member of SolarBK) and Hamada Co., Ltd. (Japan) have officially signed a cooperation agreement to develop a solar panel recycling project in Vietnam. The signing ceremony took place at the IREX factory, marking an important milestone in Vietnam–Japan technological collaboration in the renewable energy sector.
Under the agreement, the two companies plan to establish a joint venture in Vietnam to develop a solar panel recycling facility. Through this joint venture, IREX and Hamada will leverage their complementary strengths, combining IREX’s experience in infrastructure development and market operations with Hamada’s advanced recycling technology developed in Japan.
The facility is expected to be designed with a processing capacity of approximately 40,000 solar modules per year, implementing processes for the collection, classification, and recycling of end-of-life solar panels. Valuable materials recovered from the recycling process may include glass, aluminum frames, junction boxes, solar cells, and other recyclable components.

The project aims to contribute to the development of a circular value chain for the solar industry, where solar panels at the end of their lifecycle can be recycled and reintegrated into production or other industrial applications. This approach is considered a crucial step toward ensuring the long-term sustainability of the renewable energy sector.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duong Tuan – General Manager of SolarBK stated:
“After the period of development in the solar industry, the lifecycle management of solar panels and the recycling of end-of-life modules have become increasingly important global issues. The cooperation between IREX and Hamada not only represents a technological partnership but also lays the foundation for developing a circular economy model for the solar industry in Vietnam.”
Mr. Nagata – COO Hamada also emphasized:
“With over 50 years of experience in waste recycling and a decade-long track record as a frontrunner in solar panel recycling in Japan, Hamada has consistently led the industry through research and the establishment of sustainable recycling schemes. As Japan faces a growing need for solar waste management, Vietnam will face a similar disposal challenge in the future. By partnering with IREX, we are committed to developing a robust solar panel recycling infrastructure and advancing the circular economy in Vietnam.”
Mr. Dinh Hong Ky – Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association:
“The development of recycling models in the renewable energy sector not only helps reduce environmental impacts, but also enhances the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises as ESG standards become increasingly important in global markets.
The cooperation between IREX and Hamada is a strong example of how Vietnamese companies can proactively adopt international technologies while creating long-term sustainable value for the economy.”
As the global solar industry enters a new phase of development, where energy efficiency goes hand in hand with environmental responsibility—the joint venture between IREX and Hamada is expected to become one of the pioneering initiatives in solar panel recycling in Vietnam, contributing to the next stage of the solar industry with a stronger focus on lifecycle sustainability.
