SolarBK: Two Decades of Cultivating Knowledge and Creating Value for the Community

For the past two decades, SolarBK has not only been recognized as a pioneer in Vietnam’s clean energy sector, but also as an organization that carries within itself the “spirit of the teacher”, persistent in research, dedicated to innovation, and quietly creating long-lasting value for the community.

Origins from Educators and Researchers, The Foundation of a Knowledge-Driven Enterprise

SolarBK was built upon the research and teaching journeys of passionate educators and scientists devoted to renewable energy. That academic beginning formed the “flow of knowledge” that has continuously shaped the company’s development.

Since 1975, experts from universities such as Thai Nguyen University of Technology, the Institute of Energy, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology have laid the groundwork for clean-energy research in Vietnam. Their continued work at the RECTERE Center resulted in pioneering innovations including the Darrieus vertical-axis wind turbine and the SolarBK®3 solar water heater, early milestones in Vietnam’s renewable-energy landscape.

Inheriting this academic legacy, SolarBK was founded in 2006, carrying forward the teacher’s spirit: resilience in discovery, courage to innovate, and a deep commitment to applying knowledge for the benefit of society.
An Education-Driven Culture, The Foundation of SolarBK’s Identity

With academic DNA in its roots, SolarBK views education as its foundation, knowledge as its driving force, and people as its center. For nearly 20 years, the company has consistently developed clean-energy solutions in parallel with developing human capital, especially young engineers.

SolarBK maintains a strong internship and training ecosystem, working closely with universities (notably its 2019 strategic partnership with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology). A culture of lifelong learning, creativity, and experimentation is embedded internally, where each individual is both a “learner” and a “teacher.”

This foundation has enabled SolarBK’s engineering team to master the complete EPC – O&M – SSOC value chain, achieve international certifications such as IEC and UL, and maintain competitive advantage through quality rather than price.

Transforming Knowledge into Real Community Value

The teacher’s spirit is most clearly reflected in SolarBK’s ability to turn scientific research into practical value for society.

From 2008–2010, SolarBK pioneered clean-energy systems for the Truong Sa archipelago, deploying Vietnam’s first combined solar-wind-diesel system for island applications, earning two Energy Globe Awards.
The company has also implemented numerous community and education initiatives:

• The SES Clean Energy Experience Space (winner of the 2018 The Smarter E Award in Germany).
 • The “Gathering Sunbeams – Lighting the Future” initiative (2024–2025) bringing energy-storage-integrated solar systems to 10 remote schools in Northwest Vietnam.
 • Donation of a full solar system to UNETI University in 2025.

Each project reflects SolarBK’s principle: transforming knowledge into meaningful, tangible impact for the community.

R&D Spirit: Maintaining Academic Roots to Lead the Market

From day one, SolarBK recognized that true competitive advantage must lie in technology. The company has therefore invested heavily in R&D to optimize solutions and ensure quality at the source.

SolarBK manufactures its own solar panels and renewable-energy equipment, allowing strict quality control and mitigating long-term system degradation risks. In parallel, the company has continuously developed smart-energy management platforms with grid-interactive capabilities.

During the market “boom” of 2017–2020, when many companies pursued rapid mass installation, SolarBK chose a more sustainable path: focusing on the self-consumption segment. This strategic decision helped the company remain resilient through the “renewable-energy winter” of 2021–2024 and continue expanding through its strategic joint venture with Banpu (Thailand).
SolarBK: Preserving and Spreading the Teacher’s Spirit into the Future

In recent years, SolarBK has strengthened its pioneering role through milestone projects. The strategic partnership with Banpu expanded the company’s financial and technological capabilities, enabling participation in highly complex, technology-intensive industrial projects.

Another major highlight is the solar system for LEGO’s factory in Binh Duong, the first LEGO facility worldwide designed toward Net Zero standards. SolarBK was selected from the design phase and successfully met rigorous requirements in safety, equipment quality, monitoring systems, and anti-reverse-flow solutions, setting a new benchmark for future large-scale projects.

Long-term collaboration with Vingroup on projects such as VinFast and Vincom Retail, alongside community work with Thien Tam Foundation, further affirms SolarBK’s position as a “Make in Vietnam” company with strong technological autonomy and a commitment to authentic, sustainable value.

These milestones reflect the teacher’s spirit at its core: responsibility, resilience, adaptability, and the courage to lead even in difficult times. Continuing the Mission: Continuing to Cultivate Knowledge, Continuing the Journey toward Net Zero

Stepping into a new era of clean energy, SolarBK is positioning itself not merely as a system provider but as a Green Energy Platform — a technology infrastructure for future energy ecosystems.

The platform integrates data from thousands of solar systems and hundreds of radiation-monitoring stations nationwide, with expansions into wind, biomass, and biogas.

Its long-term goals include:
• real-time renewable-energy data infrastructure,
 • peer-to-peer (P2P) clean-energy transactions,
 • transparent REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) validation,
 • deep participation in the regional carbon-credit ecosystem.

As an active member of the Ho Chi Minh City Green Business Association (HGBA), SolarBK serves as a connective infrastructure helping businesses implement ESG pathways through transparent and standardized clean-energy solutions.

Toward the nation’s Net Zero goals, SolarBK remains steadfast in its mission of nearly 20 years: to cultivate knowledge, create real value, and accompany businesses, communities, and future generations on Vietnam’s green-transition journey.
