On January 16 and 17, Vietnam Economic Forum 2019 (VEF 2019) was jointly organized by the Government of Vietnam and the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission. The representative of SolarBK was invited as one of the panelists at the Panel Discussion 2: “Climate Change Adaptation And Energy Security For Sustainable Development”. Besides, the company also presented as an exhibitor in Exhibition Showcase titled “Energy technology for sustainable economic growth”, along with other large companies such as EVN, Siemens, ABB, TokyoGas, Intel, etc.

The event attracted over 2.000 participants from the Party, Government, policymakers, economists, academics, businesses, and international organizations. Accordingly, the panel of energy security and climate change, moderated by Mr. John Kerry – Former US Foreign Secretary and visiting distinguished statesman at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, was the most appealing talk in the forum. Furthermore, the event also saw the presence of Mr.Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Lecturer of Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management, together with the representatives from Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Resources and Environment, EU Delegation, Vietnam Electricity, AmCham Vietnam and some international enterprises operating in Vietnam.
Mr. Mai Van Trung, Business Development Director of SolarBK shared the information about the hybrid wind-solar electric system that SolarBK installed to supply power for the Spratly Islands and DK1 rigs. along with the seawater desalination system on the Southwest Cay Island has earned SolarBK the Energy Globe in 2012 and 2016 respectively. Thanks to it, the forum has got a clear view on the Vietnamese brainpower and ability in implementing large projects, and to learn more about the very first steps of SolarBK in particular and, in general, of Vietnam renewable energy on the route to energy security.

Mr. Le Cong Tac, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, also stated at the event: “One of the important solutions to ensure energy security in the context of climate change is to step up researching, bringing into play the powerful applications of science – technology to promote saving and using energy effectively.”
Agreeing on Mr. Tac’s point of view, Mr. Trung also mentioned Research and Development team of SolarBK who are ceaselessly updating and upgrading the technologies attached to the renewable energy systems to satisfy the needs of saving as well as personalizing of the customers. The most prominent one is SSOC (Solar System Operation Center) which is being innovated constantly, vertically integrated into the full-package solutions of SolarBK, offering numerous substantial benefits to optimize the managing process and foster the use of clean energy in Vietnam.
In addition, Mr. Trung said the solar output insurance from the third party and the financial services have contributed to building trust, making owning BigK (rooftop solar power system for households) become easier than ever. In 5 last months of 2018 alone, SolarBK dominated 46% domestic market for household solutions, getting the goal of “installing Vietnamese-made solar power for million rooftops” off the ground.
SolarBK also represented Vietnam renewable energy to discuss the hardships that domestic companies are struggling against when carrying out renewable energy projects. “At present, the regulations on devices, solar panels, inverter, technical process and so on are not clearly issued. Therefore, some systems have to wait from 1 to 2 months for officially coming into operation after installing.”, Mr. Trung added.

Moreover, the country will be part of the global community who are fighting against the effects of climate change.
